What We Do
Fort Film provides production services to brands, agencies and production companies shooting in Scotland. We shape the package around what you need, joining your production as a Scottish crew on a shoot day or two, providing camera and lighting on a job your team is leading, or running the entire shoot from pre-production through to delivery.
Where it tends to fit:
A London, Manchester or international production company needing a Scottish crew for a shoot day in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen or further north.
An agency with a brand client and no production partner in Scotland.
A broadcaster or streamer scouting Scottish locations and needing a local team to plan and run the shoot.
A direct client who’d rather work with one team end-to-end than coordinate a crew themselves.
Capabilities
Cinematography. We shoot on cinema lenses with a kit built around contemporary documentary and commercial work.
Crew. From a two-person mobile setup to a fully crewed studio shoot. We work with a regular network of trusted DPs, sound recordists, gaffers, sparks, camera assistants, hair and make-up, and production assistants — most of whom we've worked with for years across Scotland.
Production Management. Pre-production planning, location scouting and securing access, scheduling, callsheets, risk assessments, permit applications and on-the-day production running.
Equipment. Camera, lighting, sound, monitoring and grip kit available with the production. We own much of what we use most often, with a network of trusted Scottish suppliers for anything specialist.
Post-production. Edit, colour grade, sound design and finishing for projects delivered end-to-end. Self-contained workflow with the option to hand back rushes if you're handling post in-house.
Why film in Scotland
A genuine variety of landscapes within short driving distances — Highlands, lowlands, coastline, cityscape, working industrial — and competitive shoot costs compared to London or the south of England. We're based in Glasgow and Dundee, both within easy reach of most Scottish shooting locations and well connected by road and rail to the rest of the country.

Public liability and equipment insurance held year-round. PAT-tested kit. Risk assessments and method statements for all shoots. Experience supporting productions in cultural, public-sector and academic settings where compliance requirements often run higher than the industry norm.
