The Brief

CoSTAR's Realtime Lab is Scotland's new virtual production facility — an LED-volume stage and real-time production environment based in Dundee, set up to support filmmakers, advertisers, games studios and academic researchers working with virtual production techniques. We were commissioned to produce a launch film introducing the facility and its ambitions to the wider Scottish creative sector.

The Approach

The film centres on a Highlands motorbike sequence — a piece of live-action storytelling that signals the kind of cinematic, location-led work the new facility exists to support.

Shot on cinema lenses with a small, mobile crew, the sequence was designed to feel like a piece of real filmmaking — the kind of work a director would arrive at the Realtime Lab wanting to make.

Director’s Cut Coming Soon

The director's cut of the launch film is in post-production and will appear here on release. In the meantime, stills above are taken from the live-action sequences shot for the project.
